K-5 Elementary Summer School 2021

District 158 will be offering in-person and remote summer programming for Kindergarten through 5th grade students during the summer of 2021 for free.

The goal for Summer Extension is to engage, enhance, and empower each individual student to extend their learning in the areas of reading and math. Importantly for summer 2021, summer learning programming will focus on specific learning needs that have emerged as a result of the global pandemic.

The following sessions will be offered:

Session 1:

In person – Chesak/Martin or Remote
Mon., June 7th-Fri., June 25th
8:00-12:15 (student contact hours)
3 weeks – 5 days
Monday – Friday

Session 2:

In person only
Tues., July 6th-Mon., July 26th
8:00-12:15 (student contact hours)
3 weeks – 5 days
Monday – Friday

Registration for summer school will be available on the webstore beginning March 26th and the last of registration will be May 2nd. Seats will be limited based on staffing availability and IDPH guidelines. We are hoping to offer a remote session during Session 2 as staffing becomes available. If a remote session becomes available, more information will be released as it becomes available.

In addition, Summer Success tutoring will be offered for free in the afternoons and evenings remotely in June and July. Summer Success will be focused on specific standards as determined by the district to be essential to prepare for the 2021-2022 school year. Parents may sign up for 1 hour of math and/or literacy a week in the grade that was just completed. Parents will be able to begin to sign up beginning in May.
