Marlowe Middle School 7th grade students will participate in mock interviews on Wednesday, February 17 and Thursday, February 18 to give them experience in preparing for careers.
Community volunteers are sought to “interview” students during these dates.
In the 7th grade Social Studies “Human Capital” unit, the students will focus on job skills that will be valuable to them in the future regardless of their career choices. The unit has students evaluate their strengths and weaknesses and then they move towards resume building and interview skills, with the mock interview being the final assessment of their unit. The mock interviews are for jobs that the students could realistically apply for within the next few years (babysitting, dog sitting, lawn care, bus boy, etc.).
Each interview will last approximately 10 minutes and during the 45 minutes class period you will interview 4 students. The staff will provide a list of sample interview questions for you to choose from and you may add any other appropriate questions you desire. You will assess each student by filling out a rubric that will be provided and explained to you. This is only for feedback and does not serve as the student’s grade.
A total of 120 interviewers over the course of 2 days will be needed to cover all the 7th grade students at Marlowe.
Below are the times of the interviews and you are asked to please arrive 10 minutes early for instructions. You are welcome to sign up for more than one class period if your schedule allows.
