The American Battle of the Books is a national reading incentive program. The purpose of this program is to encourage students to read quality literature and have fun when working with peers toward a common goal (the Battle). This fun, academic-based competition is a tournament in which student teams can earn points by answering question about the books they have read. Our students have been reading books for months from the selected list provided by the American Battle of the Books program.
Volunteer facilitators are needed. As a volunteer facilitator you will be the person asking the students questions (all of which will be prepared for you). The answers are always to the title and author of a particular book. There will be four different “style” games that the students will participate in as they try to answer the questions and earn points for their team. Each volunteer will only have to work at one game station, asking the questions there as different teams of students come through all morning.
Volunteers for Conley’s Fourth Grade Battle of the Books are needed Friday, May 20, from 8:15-11:45 a.m.
