Board Appoints Ra’Shawn Walker to Fill Vacancy

At a Special Meeting July 19, 2018, the Board appointed Ra’Shawn Walker to fill the seat vacated by former Board President Don Drzal, who resigned from the Board in effective June 1 due to a new work schedule.

Walker was selected from four candidates interviewed by the Board at a Special Meeting on July 16.

She and her husband, Bryant, have lived in the Lake In The Hills area since 2014. They have one son and three daughters. Blake is a reservist with the United States Marine Corps and an engineer for Union Pacific railroad. Bry’Shawna is a 2018 graduate of Huntley High School now studying at North Central College. Riyana is a sophomore at HHS, and Abriyana is a 6th grader at Marlowe Middle School.

Walker holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Lewis University and is employed as a contract specialist with the federal Bureau of Prisons.

The appointment will last until the next Board election in spring 2019. Walker has expressed interest in running in that election.

In addition, the Board voted to appoint member Tony Quagliano as vice president. The role was vacated when former vice president Michael Fleck ascended to the president’s seat after Drzal’s resignation.
