Huntley 158 Today: The Shift Toward Personalized Learning

Today we speak with principals Scott Rowe of Huntley High School and Anna Hoyou of Mackeben Elementary School about the District’s recently announced plan to move toward truly personalized learning for all students over the next five years.

The shift is a natural step in the progression to improve student learning by breaking down the walls of the traditional school day that included becoming the largest District in Illinois to provide a Chromebook to all students, implementing blended learning at Huntley High School, and piloting competency-based education.

In addition, at the elementary level, several shifts are underway to better introduce students to the concepts of individualization, ownerships of learning, and learner choice.
