Congratulations! Sixth grader Ava Smithwick is the winner of the Illinois Level 1 Letters About Literature competition. Ava’s letter won $200 for herself and $100 dollars for our school library! Her letter will now be entered into the national round of judging. The winner of that round is eligible to receive a cash award of $2,000! Winners will be announced in late May or early June 2019. Ava and her family will travel to Springfield on Thursday to read her letter, meet the Illinois Secretary of State, and receive her prizes. Great job, Ava, and good luck!

Attention 8th graders interested in trying out for the Huntley High School Poms/Dance Team: there is a mandatory try-out clinic today from 5-8 at the HHS Field House. Try-out packets are in the office.
6th & 7th graders – If you want a Give Love For Life T-shirt for the Event on May 28th, get your donations in by WEDNESDAY!!!! See your core teachers or PE staff for extra forms or information if needed. Don’t forget…For every $10 dollars you donate, you also earn a raffle ticket for some amazing prizes.
Heineman Service Club is hosting a “stuff the duffel drive.” We will be collecting items for kids who are placed in foster homes through Friday, May 17. Please see your teachers for a list of needed items.
The last day of Homework Club is Thursday, May 23rd.
The last day to CHECK OUT a library book is This Friday, May 10th. On Friday, May 17th ALL LIBRARY BOOKS should be returned to the library. Your library books are due on Friday, May 17th.
The activity bus is free this year, but you MUST sign up by noon to be able to ride it.
