About Huntley High School Baseball 2009: |
|
The 2009
Huntley High School Varsity Baseball team went 30-7-1 (overall) and 12-3
(Fox Valley Conference – Fox Division – 2nd Place). We were
ranked #8 in the Chicago Sun-Times and the Chicago Tribune
High School Baseball end of the season polls and we were also ranked
#12th in the state by Prep Baseball Report magazine. In the
playoffs, we won our Regional by beating Woodstock 4 to 3 and we
eventually lost to Cary-Grove (4th in State in 4A) in the
Sectional Semi-finals 6 to 0. We had eight players move on to play
at the next level off of this 2009 team – one Division I pitcher, two at
NAIA schools, three that moved on to Junior College, and two that moved
on to Division III schools. Huntley had a senior laden team starting five
seniors, 3 juniors, and a sophomore. We play a very tough schedule –
some of our opponents included: Barrington, Rockford Boylan, Prairie
Ridge (4A State Champs in 2008) three times, Cary-Grove (4th
in State in 4A) two times, and Grayslake Central (3rd Place
in State – 3A in 2009) three times. This is my 5th year at
Huntley (11th overall as a head coach and 15 years total) and
the 2010 team looks to improve on the success that was left behind from
the graduating seniors of 2009. |
