In November Huntley 158 will distribute the 5Essentials Survey to all Huntley 158 parents/guardians, students, and teachers. The 5Essentials survey is a statewide effort by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) to gauge school climate and learning conditions in Illinois schools. The survey provides a unique opportunity for students, teachers and parents to have a voice in improving their schools.
When is it coming?
Students and teachers will be asked to take the survey during the timeframe between November 15 and Winter Break. The parent survey link will be emailed to all Huntley 158 families in November.
What does it entail?
The Illinois 5Essentials Survey provides a comprehensive picture of a school’s organizational culture in an individualized report measuring five “essentials” critical for school success:
- Effective Leaders
- Collaborative Teachers
- Involved Families
- Supportive Environment
- Ambitious Instruction
Huntley 158 will administer the survey to learn how schools are doing on the 5Essentials for school success. Feedback from the tool will be shared in reports to schools in the spring of 2019 and will be reported publicly on the State School Report Card website in Fall 2019.
The District is mandated to conduct a survey of school learning conditions survey every year, and your participation in this effort is critical!
- Parents/guardians with more than one child in Huntley 158 schools must take the survey for each child.
- The survey will be administered online.
- The survey also will be available to parents at Parent-Teacher Conferences November 19 and 20.
