Kicking off the “Ignite Your Passion” 2018-19 theatre season at the Huntley Community School District 158 Performing Arts Center, Huntley High School will take you to a place called Almost, Maine.
Almost, Maine – a place that’s so far north, it’s almost not in the United States. It’s almost in Canada. And it’s not quite a town, because its residents never got around to getting organized. So, it almost doesn’t exist.
On a cold, clear, moonless night in the middle of winter, all is not quite what it seems in the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine. As the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, the residents of Almost, Maine find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend – almost – in this delightful midwinter night’s dream about romantic relationships.
John Cariani’s Almost, Maine is a touching, comic, warm, gentle and altogether surprising play that will make you smile with your heart.
Featuring a cast of 19 students, grades 9-12, Almost, Maine is directed by HHS theatre arts teacher Christine DeFrancesco. Lighting and sound design and set design and construction is by PAC technical production manager, Nathan Knapke who will also oversee a crew of 10 students working to make the play come to life.
Almost, Maine will be performed for audiences on September 19-22 at 7:00 p.m. in the Huntley District 158 Performing Arts Center located at Huntley High School. Tickets are $5 each, general seating, and can be purchased online at https://d158.ticketleap.com/hhsalmost/ or at the door one hour prior to show time.
