Huntley High School softball coach Mark Petryniec notched his 300th win on May 7 as the Red Raiders defeated Hampshire 13-0 to maintain the top spot in the Fox Valley Conference.
He has helmed the program for the past 15 seasons and was named the 2016 Northwest Herald Softball Coach of the Year.
“Those milestones are a combination of having good teams and we’ve been successful the last four years,” Petryniec told the Daily Herald. “I said I’ve never hit a ball or pitched a ball. This kind of accomplishment is based solely on the program that we have and the girls.”
Petryniec is a teacher at Marlowe Middle School.
