The festival appearance is just the latest in a series of notable accomplishments for HHS bands this year.
The HHS Saxophone Quartet performed at the Music for All National Chamber Music Festival, held March 14-16 in Indianapolis. The performance marked the school’s first ensemble participation in the festival. The quartet was one of just nine ensembles selected from across the country. The quartet spent three days in Indianapolis taking in outstanding performances and participating in masterclasses with world-class teachers prior to a culminating performance at the Indianapolis Historical Society on March 16.
The Wind Ensemble also performed at the Illinois Music Education Conference on January 27. They were one of eight bands from across the state selected this year to represent the best of the best in Illinois, again marking another first for an HHS ensemble. The Wind Ensemble was joined by guest artists the Illinois State University Faculty Brass for a piece on their program.
In addition, clinicians from Elmhurst College, Libertyville High School (retired), Illinois State University (retired), and the University of Wisconsin – Madison, came to Huntley High School to help the band in their preparation. The Wind Ensemble gave their performance at the Peoria Civic Center Theater to an audience of music educators from across the state.
