Huntley 158 Today: Theater Students in the Spotlight

From repeat appearances at state competition to outside events at Chicago Shakes and the national Shakespeare Competition, the Huntley High School Theater Department has garnered a number of accolades in recent years.

On this episode of Huntley 158 Today, we speak with teacher Christine DeFrancesco and three students: Benjamin Johnson, Dani Bahn, and Jacob Lopez, about how theater at HHS has grown during their years in school, some of the accomplishments they’ve enjoyed during that time, and their upcoming performances of Mary Zimmerman’s Metamorphoses May 2-5 at the HHS Performing Arts Center.

The play, presented in the style of theater-in-the-round, features a core cast of 10 performers, each of whom will play multiple roles in a series of vignettes comprising Greek Myths based on Ovid’s classic tales. Seating is limited, and tickets will be available through the District 158 Web Store for $5. Huntley 158 students are free with ID.

Due to mature themes, the show is not recommended for children younger than 14.
