Huntley High School wrestling coach B.J. Bertelsman has been named the Class 3A Coach of the Year by the Illinois Wrestling Coaching and Officials Association.
In his seven years at HHS, Bertelsman has led the program to historic heights in the past few seasons, capped by a best-ever fourth-place finish at the IHSA Class 3A dual-team state meet earlier this year.
He also was named wrestling coach of the year by the Northwest Herald.
This year the Red Raiders finished 24-5 overall. In addition to the team successes, Huntley sent a record seven qualifiers to the Class 3A individual state meet.
