Thirty-five Huntley High School students recently participated in Illinois State University’s Technology Day event on Friday, October 21, at the ISU Bone Student Center.
Students competed in four different engineering challenges alongside schools from throughout the state, at both the freshmen and varsity levels. Events included Engineering Design, Transportation Technology, Structural Technology and Invention/Innovation. The competition marked Huntley High’s second year participating in the event.
Among other strong finishes, the Red Raider Robotics team placed 4th in the VEX Robotics competition. This was the first official VEX Robotics competition for the newly formed team.
“This was an incredible accomplishment for them since this group has only been together for six weeks and was competing against some very experienced and accomplished teams,” said Amanda Henk, PLTW Engineering teacher and team sponsor.
Other sponsoring teachers included Mr. Brian O’Neill and Mr. Joe Domka from the PLTW Engineering staff.
