Updates on Investigation, Parking, SAT, and Open House

Dear Red Raider Families,

Follow Up On Threat Investigation

HHS administration has collaborated with the Huntley Police Department to investigate the threat found in a bathroom stall earlier this week. The police and administration have reached a point in the investigation that they believe there is no credible threat to safety at Huntley High School. While HHS administration and Huntley Police will continue to investigate details of this incident, the school will continue to operate as normal.

Please know that if and when the investigation reaches its full conclusion, any person found to be responsible for this message will face the strongest appropriate school and law enforcement consequences.

Transition to SAT

The State of Illinois has officially committed to transitioning from ACT to SAT beginning with this year’s Junior class. We believe it is incredibly important for our teachers to have the tools they need to best guide our students through this change in College Readiness assessment. Therefore, we will be releasing students at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20 to offer a half-day training to our teachers on the SAT. Every class will meet this day on an alternate schedule, lunch will still be provided, and buses will run at the earlier dismissal time. We selected this date for the training due to the upcoming fall assessment practice dates:

PSAT – October 19 for 10th & 11th grade

PSAT 9 – November 1 for 9th grade

Detailed information will be sent home in the coming weeks for the practice exams. Seniors will not be required to attend on October 19. (This would be a great time to schedule a college visit!)

Temporary Opening to the Student Drive

Traffic was smooth this morning with the temporary opening of the student drive. Students handled the change extremely well, and I am thrilled to report that all students and buses were on time and that Harmony Road never experienced a major backup. We are all ready for the parking lot to be completed for this smooth operation to become a daily reality. We eagerly await the gravel to dry and the project to commence!

We hope to see you tonight.
