Marlowe Middle School Service Club has adopted the west side of Haligus Road in conjunction with the Village of Huntley and held its first clean-up on Earth Day, April 22.
There were 14 students combined from the Marlowe Service Club and Ecology Club that participated in this event.
“The students saw if you worked hard at a goal that you can accomplish anything, and we also were making an impact on Earth Day,” said Pamela Heimsath, Service Club sponsor. “As many cars drove by they would hunk their horns and give us a thumbs up, which was also a signal from the community that our work was being appreciated.”
Marlowe Service Club has more than 100 members. The Earth Day cleanup was just one of more than 15 service projects it has participated in this year.
