More than 63 students will perform “A Cowboy In King Arthur’s Court” Friday, December 11 at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, December 12 at 2:30 and 7:00 p.m. at Huntley High School’s Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door 30 minutes prior to show time. Children 3 and under are free.
Written with an homage to Monty Python’s Flying Circus, “A Cowboy In King Arthur’s Court” is a time-travel romp through the Middle Ages with Mark Twain. The play, written by Holly Beardsley, is a loose adaptation of Mark Twain’s “A Connecticut Yankee In King Arthur’s Court”.
Adding to the merriment (and pageantry) are Las Vegas showgirls and a talented flag corps. Direction is by Mary Foerster, Marlowe Middle School history and theater teacher. Set design is by Holly Beardsley and set construction coordination is through Gene Highley.
“This comedy has been well worth three months of hard work. It appeals to young and old alike and reminds us that there is nothing quite like Camelot,” said Janet Burkhalter, producer, costumer and director of dance/flags education. Concessions and a craft store will add to the festivities.
The Performing Arts Center at Huntley High School is located at 13719 Harmony Road in Huntley.
