The Huntley High School girls track and field team won the first sectional team championship in school history at the Class 3A girls track and field sectional held at Hononegah High School May 14. In addition to winning the championship, many individual athletes also qualified for the state meet May 21-23.
The Red Raiders’ 72 team points placed them at the top of a tough field that included second-place Grant (67 points), Cary-Grove (58.5), Crystal Lake South (48.5), Belvidere North (43) and Jacobs (40.5).
Individual winners included seniors Macy Tramblay (100 hurdles title), Tess Miller (triple jump), and Delaney Lyman (pole vault).
In addition to those title winners, the following relay teams qualified to compete at state:
- 4×1 relay (Cassidy Lackovic, Nicole Zielinski, Tramblay, and Miller)
- 4×4 relay (Alyssa Bushman, Kate Mitchell, Tramblay, and Miller)
