Consolidated School District 158 will host two open houses for members of the public to learn about and provide feedback on three potential scenarios for changes to elementary and middle school boundaries.
The scenarios were developed to alleviate capacity issues facing Leggee Elementary School. Only those families living within the current Leggee boundaries are potentially affected under the scenarios.
The open houses will be held on Monday, March 2, from 4-6 p.m., and Tuesday, March 3, from 6-8 p.m., at Leggee Elementary, 13723 Harmony Road, Huntley.
The open houses will not entail a formal presentation, but rather will feature a gallery walk where attendees can explore the options and ask questions of administrators on hand. Members of the public are free to attend any time during the open houses.
The District contracted in October 2014 with DecisionInsite, a company that specializes in assisting districts with boundary changes. Using demographic data from DecisionInsite, as well as collaborating with them on boundary lines, the District and DecisionInsite have produced three different viable boundary scenarios.
The administration and DecisionInsite presented these three potential scenarios to the Board of Education on Thursday, February 19, including a recommended option. The District now invites the public to learn more about the scenarios, including the recommended option, at the open houses.
All members of the community are invited to send feedback on the scenarios to firstname.lastname@example.org.
After receiving comment from the community and making any necessary revisions to the recommendation, the administration will seek a decision at the Board’s March 19 meeting. The Board meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. After approval, the boundary changes will be phased in beginning in the 2015-2016 school year.
