About D158

Located in McHenry and Kane counties of northern Illinois, Consolidated School District 158 serves 9,300 students in Pre-Kindergarten through grade 12, residing in Huntley, western portions of Lake in the Hills and Algonquin, and surrounding areas.  The district employs over 1,400 staff members and is one of the fastest growing school districts in Illinois.

Consolidated School District 158 is famous for its campus-concept idea in which the district transformed from a one elementary/one high school district to its current five elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school, located on three campuses. Built between 1997 and 2005, all of the district’s schools were designed with a primary focus on technology in education.

By consistently demonstrating a high level of achievement that has been validated by meaningful data provided through ACT’s College/Career Readiness System, Huntley High School is one of only four Illinois high schools selected as a recipient of the distinguished Red Quill Award for 2009-2010 by ACT’s Midwest Regional Office.

“This honor is a testament to the staff and students of our schools who have worked hard to realize such a dramatic rise in our ACT scores.” — Dr. John Burkey, Superintendent
